How this one is built
Built to order from a new sealed LEGO® Technic McLaren P1. We build it over several sittings, because the 7-speed gearbox sits deep in the chassis and has to shift cleanly before the bodywork closes over it, and every gear through the paddle shifters, the steering, the independent suspension, the V8 pistons, the butterfly doors and the adjustable rear wing are tested before packing. The rear wing and the butterfly doors are the vulnerable parts, so it ships as a bulky parcel in a custom-cut foam cradle. Spot-gluing fixes the body panels and wing mounts and leaves the gearbox, steering, suspension and doors working. Fits the Vehicle case in Large.
What is in the parcel
- The built set, posed and checked
- Spare parts, bagged and labelled
- The original instructions and the flattened box
- A bench card: who built it, when, glued or not, and how many spares

Care notes
- Dust with a soft, dry make-up brush, or compressed air held well back.
- Keep it out of direct sun: white and light grey bricks yellow over the years.
- Lift it by the base or the heaviest part, never by a tower, wing or stem.
