Terms of sale
- Prices. Prices are in South African rand and include VAT at 15%. Delivery is added at checkout as shown before you pay. The price that applies is the one shown when you place the order.
- Orders and payment. Your order is accepted when payment is received. Card and instant EFT payments through PayFast are confirmed automatically. Manual EFT orders are held for 3 working days and may be cancelled if payment has not reflected by then. We never ask for card details by email.
- Availability and lead times. On the shelf pieces are built and waiting; built-to-order pieces are built from a new sealed set after you order. Lead times (2 to 3 working days on the shelf, about 5 to 14 built to order) are estimates. If we cannot supply a piece as described, we tell you and refund what you paid for it.
- Descriptions. Set names and numbers identify the sets we build. Pictures on this site are our own drawings and show the style of a piece, not every detail.
- Fit. Frame and case suggestions use approximate built dimensions. We confirm the fit for your exact set by email before dispatch.
- Glue. Spot-gluing is permanent. Checkout asks you to confirm this for any spot-glued line before you pay.
- Studio services. Service prices are from-prices. We confirm the final price by email before any work starts; if it differs from what you paid, we refund the difference or send an EFT request for the balance, and you may cancel instead. We photograph your set on arrival. Missing or broken parts are replaced at cost, only with your approval. Return courier anywhere in South Africa is included.
- Delivery and risk. Parcels are insured and delivered against a signature. Risk passes to you on delivery, or on collection when you collect.
- Cancelling and returns. You may cancel within seven days of delivery under the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act, except for goods made to your specification. Defects are covered by the Consumer Protection Act. Shipping and returns explains both.
- Gift orders. A recipient's name, address and optional email are used only to deliver the gift and send tracking.
- Your rights. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Consumer Protection Act or any other law.
- Law. These terms are governed by the law of South Africa.
Privacy (POPIA)
We collect only what we need to sell to you and look after your order, and we protect it under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
What we collect
- Your name and email address, and a delivery address when you choose courier delivery.
- For gifts, the recipient's name, address and, if you give it, their email address for tracking.
- What you order, gift messages, notes on order lines and anything you tell us in a custom build request.
- Payment status from PayFast. We never see or store card numbers: PayFast handles card details.
- For custom build requests, a one-way scrambled form of your internet address, used only to stop abuse of the form.
Why we use it
- To build, pack and deliver your order and to email you about it.
- To reply to requests and questions.
- To keep the tax records the law requires.
- We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not send marketing email.
Who we share it with
- The courier, who receives the delivery name, address and tracking contact.
- PayFast, who processes card and instant EFT payments.
- Our email delivery provider and our hosting provider, who process data only to deliver email and run this site.
Cookies and your browser
This site uses no advertising or tracking cookies and no analytics. Your cart is kept in your own browser's local storage and never leaves your device until you check out. The only cookie is a sign-in cookie for the studio's own admin pages.
How long we keep it
- Orders and invoices: five years, as the Tax Administration Act requires.
- Custom build requests that do not become orders: deleted on request, and in any case once they are no longer needed to deal with your enquiry.
- Emails: as long as needed to deal with your question or order.
Your rights
You may ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, and object to how we use it. Email hello@example.co.za. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you may complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa.
Information officer: Michael, reachable at hello@example.co.za. Information officer registration with the Information Regulator: to be confirmed.
